Hometown Christmas Celebration & Tree Lighting

Bring your friends, family and neighbors to Watauga’s 1st annual, Hometown Christmas Celebration & Tree Lighting Event on Saturday, December 2 at Capp Smith Park. This festive, outdoor event will be sure to entertain all ages with multiple attractions like the Tree Lighting Ceremony, Performances by Local Dance and Choir Groups, Vendors, Food, Inflatables and Bounce Houses! Make sure to bring your camera to capture pictures of Santa’s Grand Arrival on Watauga’s Firetruck, Selfies with the Grinch, Frosty the Snowman and Santa! While you’re there, snap your family’s 2017 Holiday Photo inside our 15 feet tall Inflatable Snow Globe provided by Harvest Church! Make sure to stick around after dark to enjoy the grand finale with a live performance by Keller Jazz and a gorgeous Fireworks Show over the water. Free Parking & Admission!

Bounce Houses & Inflatables

  • 4:00-9:00 PM.
  • Free!
  • Inflatables & Games, ages 4-12.
  • Toddler Playland, ages 3 & under.

Food, Shopping & Crafts

  • 4:00-9:00 PM.

Snow Globe Live!

  • Take pictures with your family & friends inside this giant, Inflatable Snow Globe.
  • Provided by Harvest Church.
  • Free!
  • 4:00-9:00 PM.

Live Entertainment 

  • 4:00-8:30 PM
  • There will be 2 stages with local Dance and Choir performances.
    • Performance line up will be posted at a later date.
  • Keller Jazz will perform at the Amphitheater at 7:30 PM. 

Tree Lighting, Santa & Holiday Characters

  • The Grinch and Frosty the Snowman will be strolling the park throughout the event for pictures & visits. please bring your own camera/phone to take pictures.
  • The tree lighting ceremony will start at 6:30 PM.
    • The Watauga Mayor will speak & Watauga Elementary's Wildcat Choir will perform.
    • Santa will make a Grand Entrance on Watauga's Firetruck.
  • Free Santa Visits at the North Pole starting approximately at 7:00 PM. Bring your own camera/phone.

Fireworks Show

  • The fireworks show will start at approximately 8:15 PM over Capp Smith Lake.
    • Fireworks will be most visible on the east & south side of the lake, closest to the water.

Free Parking & Admission

  • Free Parking will be provided at Harvest Church.
